THE INTERNATIONAL NETWORK OF CRISIS MAPPERS

Encourage local activists and affected populations to join and participate in CM*Net!

In her well-considered comments about ICCM 2009, Emily Jacobi suggested we should all work to ensure CM*Net involves local activists, partners, and affected populations. She said, "our local partners from the Thai-Burma border may not have been able to travel to Cleveland, but they can share their thoughts online." I think deepening our network in this way is a really important next step for all of us.

How can you help? I'd like us to discuss how to bring in more local partners for ICCM 2010 on this discussion forum and brainstorm creative ways to bring their voices into this community.

Emily offered to "encourage the local partners we work with through Digital Democracy to join the network, and I'd encourage other people to get their local partners involved, whether from Cambodia, Sudan, New Orleans or Colombia."

What can you do? Let's all help spread the word and make sure that CM*Net is as inclusive a network as possible. Let's make sure we don't exclude the very voices that might best help us innovate and improve! Your comments are warmly welcomed.
