Bio
Emily Jacobi is the Co-Founder and Director of Digital Democracy, a New York-based nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering civic engagement through digital technologies. Emily began working internationally as a youth journalist, when she traveled on a reporting trip to Cuba in 1996. Since then she has worked on media and research projects in Latin America, West and Southern Africa and Southeast Asia, as well as “En Los Campos,” a multi-media exhibit highlighting the lives of teenage migrant farm workers in the US. Her work experience includes Internews Network, AllAfrica.com and Y-Press Assistant Bureau Director. Since January 2007 she has worked closely with community groups in and around Burma's borders. Through Digital Democracy she works on programming that promotes education, communication and participation.
