community driven development, intersections of development and conflict
Bio
I currently work for Mercy Corps as a Program Officer on the conflict management team. I provide technical support to our conflict management programs in East Africa. In addition, a good portion of my time is dedicated to managing a research project to improve our ability to evaluate the impact of our economic development and peacebuilding programs. I'm looking forward to ICCM as a great opportunity to learn how other people are monitoring conflict.
My background is rooted in a wide range of community development programs, including food security, village savings and loan, water and sanitation, and HIV/AIDS. Previous to my current position, I managed Mercy Corps' field office in Bouar, Central African Republic for a year and half, worked with Oxfam GB to develop a final report of their tsunami response program in Aceh, worked with OCHA-Ethiopia on conflict and displacement issues, and worked as an associate program manager with PSI. I got my start in international development with the Peace Corps in Cameroon (2000-2002). I have a BA in Psychology from UW-Madison (1999) and a Master's in International Relations from SAIS (2007), where my studies were focused on the intersections between conflict and development.
